Peer Support
The peer recovery specialists at Tuerk House are people who have successfully navigated the recovery process and have dedicated their lives to helping others do the same. They work with all our patients—at all stages of care—to help them stay engaged in the recovery process and reduce the likelihood of relapse. In fact, peer support often continues long after clinical treatment ends.

What Our Peer Recovery Specialists Do
- Lead individual and group support sessions, recreational activities, social events and more
- Provide patients with a safe space to share stories, problem-solve and socialize with others who are in recovery
- Mentor our patients and help them set goals
- Share knowledge, resources and skills to help our patients grow and achieve self-sufficiency
- Help patients build relationships and a sense of community as they withdraw from previous relationships that were based on drinking or drugs
- Advocate for our patients to their treatment teams, social workers and family members
- Provide a constant, stable “safety net” of support as patients move through the continuum of care and the different stages of recovery
