My name is Kimbyl and I am 41 years old. I began drinking and using drugs at the age of 13. I started out drinking and using Marijuana, then my drug use progressed to Cocaine and Heroine. For the longest time, I never thought that I had a problem with drugs and alcohol until I allowed my drinking and drug use to send me to prison.
Through the jail system, I heard about Tuerk House. Through parole, I was sent for treatment to the Ashburton Street facility. I was hesitant at first, but going to the Tuerk House was the best thing that could happen to me. My experience was great. The staff made me feel very welcome. The counselors at the Tuerk House are wonderful. They helped me come to terms with what I was going through and what triggered my alcohol and drug use. The lectures and meetings were indeed wonderful.
After I graduated I was sent to one of the Tuerk House’s halfway houses, Nilsson House for women, which is also a great place to be. I am learning how to live again without the use of drugs and alcohol. Right now, I am working and I plan on continuing staying clean and sober. In the near future, I plan on getting a job in my work field, buying my own home and a car. I have been working in the fast food industry for six months now. I am about to begin manager training school. This is my first time ever working in fast food—for the past 20 years I worked in the electronics field—and I really like it.
I am very grateful to the Tuerk House. I would recommend to anyone who wants to get clean to go to the Tuerk House.
