Counselor for Substance Abuse Treatment (Outpatient/Inpatient)

This individual plans and conducts therapeutic activities including treatment planning, discharge planning, and individual and group therapy. The Counselor is capable of performing independent and advanced work with clients within the program. He/she must demonstrate a working knowledge of COMAR regulations and the full continuum of care. In addition, this person must have a broad understanding of how a program operates and how each client moves along in the treatment system. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgment in discharging duties. As Counselor, this individual will also support and advise counseling staff on proper procedures and work practices in addition to carrying a caseload. Reports to Clinical Supervisor. Candidates must be licensed clinical counselors or social workers. Two or more years of relevant experience required.
